2005 SQN Atlantis Syrah

A dear friend was at our farm this weekend for a little deer hunting and he brought some amazing dry aged ribeyes for the grill. We picked some puffb alls Thanks Dale) about the size of softballs and had quite a feast. I ope ned a bottle of 2005 Sine Qua Non Atlantis Syrah (I can't keep track of the numerical designations but this one was Fe2 O3-1c whatever that means. Th e Atlantis was extraordinary. There is a purity in the fruit that is hard to describe. Very focused flavors, perfectly balanced, great minerality. Plenty of ripe black and red fruit flavors, beef blood, snise and white pep per, typical Syrah flavors but incredibly smooth and supple and deep in fla vor without being cloying. 15.3% Alcohol yet not hot. This maybe the best bottle of wine I have tasted this year. "A+"
