4th of July wines

With steak, corn on the cob and grilled vegetables. 2003 Elyse Courbier a Rhone blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah from Napa Valley. Nose of smoky cherries and briar, nice mouthfeel, tannins have resolved, taste of smoked meat, some sour cherry, not terribly complex, decent finish and acids. B+

Started off with Rumball 2005 Sparkling Syrah. This one has been on my favorites list for several years now. Has the flavors of a good Oz shiraz with dry finish and great bubbles....good by the pool wine. B+
