Adelsheim Pinot Blanc 2006

Beverly and I took a date night last night to a new restaurant in Jacksonville, Mitchell's Fish Market. We ordered the King Estate Pinot Gris at $28US a fairly good value vis a vis the wine list and mark up- Waitress came back "I am sorry but we haven't actually gotten that in." bummer I think, "We can give you the Adelsheim Pinot Blanc for the same price."

Wow, no brainer that, I quickly ordered the Adelsheim and adjusted the tip skyward as this wine was listed at $42US. The wine was superb. not much in the way of nose, but the mouth was elegant with subtle flavors of melon and a hint of citrus. If one can fault this wine it is a titch hot at 13.6 alcohol though I didn't notice that at first only when taking care of the left overs tonight. It was an delightful pairing with the pecan encrusted trout.I wasn't totally crazy about the restaurant, but had to admit that the customer service in upgrading the wine was first class and I will return just for that.

I guess that there might be more than one Jacksonville VBG, Yes I was refering to the one in Jax whjich just recently opened

Note on the Adelsheim, it was great QPR at $28US in a restaurant, I am not sure that it would be so great at $42 where other selections might prove better.

Nice offer by restaurant. I'm not a huge PB fan in general, but it does seem Oregon has some good ones.

I think that I've voiced this opinion before here, but I've come to the conclusion that I prefer Oregon Pinot Blancs to Pinot Gris: lighter, more aromaticity, easier to pair with food (IMO of course).

I agree - my wife doesn't like Chardonnay, so Elk Cove PB has become our replacement, and I've become a fan. It seems to me that many Pinot Gris coat my tongue - I want to know the PG well before I buy.
