Chateau Rothschild (Lafite) Paulliac

I was just wondering if anyone had a chance to try this wine. Notes or recollections on any vintage would be fine, but specifically, I'm talking about the 2002 which I noticed at World Market today for around $20. A bit young, most likely, but I also assume it does not have the aging ability of their premiere wine.

As an alternative, and sub-$20 Brdeaux that you know of with reasonable availability for us poor saps in Ohio would be welcome, as well.

Here's to a favorable decision from the Supreme Court, K

I had this wine recently and it's really pretty bad. I'm not sure that it has any aging potential beyond a year or two. Chateau Lacombe or Chateau Le Crock are much better alternatives at roughly the same price. WHere are you in Ohio? I might be able to direct you to a place to buy sub $20.00 wines in Columbus.

Great, thanks for the information; I'll go ahead and skip it then. Used to be, I'd buy a bottle just to try it, but my student's budget doesn't allow that right now unless it's sub-$13 (somehow that doesn't make it on my radar).

I'm actually in Cleveland, but maybe the stores have a sister shop here. I just noticed one of the better places I'd stumbled across (it was across from World Market) is closed. Can you believe it, one of the best selections I've found here has been at Saks Fifth Avenue. Alas, I cannot really afford any of it, although i don't think they've jacked up their prices *too* much. I'm a little uncertain as to prices, as I noticed everything immediately jumped up in price when I moved here from CA. My cheap Chandon Rose sparkler that I could easily pick up for sub-$10 is now $19.99. This is why I'm hoping for a good outcome on the Supreme Court decision....

thanks, K
