DVD: John Cleese: Wine For The Confused.

I found this by chance in the local blockbuster while perusing the latest releases.

It is a relatively low budget [just that they skimped on transport etc] wine for beginners type production. John Cleese, who owns a house near Santa Barbera California, goes to three wineries in Santa Barbera, Foxen was one, I forget the other two.

He also holds a garden party wine tasting for beginner friends with special guest Brendan Fraser for beginners. They do blind tastings of cheap versus expensive, various wines and rate what they like, use words to describe what it they're drinking, even do a "can you pick the wine as red or white"?

He goes to the three wineries and asks various questions that beginners would ask. There are extended interviews from the three wineries.

He injects some comedy into proceedings. Does some how to order wine at a resteraunt [with a doppleganger waiter who mocks him etc], how to store wine etc etc. There are hints and tips all along the way.

It was quite entertaining. The better half quite enjoyed it and learned some things. I think any level of wine enthusiast would enjoy this. Just rent it. I might even buy it.

The only thing I found a bit peculiar was that a man who has been drinking wine for so long and travelled so much, and has like a ~300 bottle wine cellar knows so little about wine and is constantly suprised by it all. Genuinely suprised. About pretty basic stuff even non-geeks would know.

I also found the cellar door at the tin shed [its looks like a tin shed, I forget the name] with wines starting at $30US I think it was going on the price board behind them to either be incredibly expensive or probably beyond the "confused" / beginner.
