A good source for concise abstracts is "Wine Lover's Companion." Sorry, I don't have the authors/publisher/ISBN handy, but will get it from my library, if you are interested.

Good detailed sources for varietal discussion can be found in Jancis Robinson's book "Wine," IIRC, and Oz Clarke's compendium too. Again, I can get all the data on both of those, if you need it.
