Experience w/Behrens & Hitchcock Le Chats Du Monde 2003?

Question

I recently was at a wine store where the wine salesperson was telling me about how great the Behrens & Hitchcock Le Chats Du Monde 2003 wine was - and that is could be a collector because the winery partners are splitting up.

My question to the group is - has anyone tasted this wine yet? If so, what were your impressions and what might you pair it with outside of steak?

Gee a winery partnership splitting up--who coulda thunk it?--bottom line ifyou buy wine for investment you're not going to get the profit you seekbased on a split up---The future of the components of B & H depends who getsthe vineyard and wine-making team--one of the partners may have a differentvision of their part of the operation.  By all means if the wine are up totheir prior standards buy it and enjoy--but don't get sucked in by thehype--we salespeople are shameless when trying to close a sale(smile)

Thanks for the news - I didn;t know they were breaking up the winery team - but I have had the Chats du Monde, and highly recommend it. it is pricey, yes, but a wonderful wine. An interesting Syrah blend, high alcohol, wonderful nose that keeps opening up long after the bottle is opened, and a rich, full flavor.Knowing that they;re busting up the winery team, i may have to go get a few bottles for the cellar. Thanks!

Ric -Thanks for your input on the wine!  I am having dinner at a friendshouse who likes big, bold wines.  I think I might bring this over tohis place and have him decant upon arrival.  You mentioned that thisnose keeps developing - how long of a pre-decant do you recommend priorto consuming?Thanks!Claudio
