Ferrari-Carrano Tressor 2002

Made beef short ribs slow braised in wine, herbs, mirepoix, and beef stock.

With it and horseradish and sour cream mashed potatoes, opened a bottle of Ferrani-Carrano Tressor their meritage blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Opened 1.5 hours. Initial nose was classic cab of dark fruit, blackberries and green pepper, had spice notes and some cedar box as well. Very full mid-palate with dark fruit even a bit of cocoa and long finish that covered the palate and remained for at least 5-10 minutes after drinking. No heat and tannins were still a tad dusty so this will age another 7-10 years. Very nice win A- on Dale's scale. At $48 the QPR may not be so good but a very Bordeaux style wine at less than Bordeaux prices.
