German "Federweisser"

Hi all,

does someone know, what happens with the early german wine called "Federweisser", if I put it in a fridge for one year ? It is still drinkable ? Optical the wine is clear, but I don't know, if the alcohol in this bottle is OK ?

Regards, Olaf

Salut/Hi Olaf,

Oh dear. This (unless I'm completely up the creek) is designed to be drunk immediately. God knows what a year in the fridge will do to it.

Probably - it won't be poisonous, though I doubt if it will be particularly pleasant. Have a bottle in reserve and try it.

One thing I can guarantee. The alcohol will be OK as will be the water, it's the rest I worry about!

I guess you, being a German, should know it better than most of us..., especially that this stuff is meant for early consumption. I've not touched it since an extreme hangover in Ingelheim a long time ago... :-) But clear wine? Isn't Federweisser usually milky white? Heaven knows what'll happen in the fridge - hope it isn't secondary fermentation... :-) Anders
