Opened my first bottle of this tonight - just thought I'd see how it's getting on:
It's a satisfying, clear mid purple in the glass. The nose is lean, and makes me want to describe it as "winey". It's a mixture of cut wood, berries and alcohol.
The taste is almost the same - it's so nicely balanced that it's hard to pick out any obvious notes. There are cherries and a touch of liquorice. The alcohol on the finish is balanced by a little sweetness. This is a well structured Gigondas that is a pleasure to drink at the moment, but may benefit from more time in the cellar.
