hail in Cavaillon, Avignon

FWIW --

Heard last night that there was serious hail in the Rhone Valley. Apparently a lot of grape crop damage was done, but there were no more specifics.

Also mentioned were the effects of another year of severe drought, particularly in the Var.

Hi Emery.

Not the entire Var, mostly the drought is felt in the Bandol area, where precipitation this year is 50% down, and it has not rained more than a few drops since the leaves started showing on the wines...

Looks stromy though, so everyone is betting on August rain.

More hail was announced for the area last night.

Hope you got a little from the recent system. We had about 5 ml total (that's not much). Here in AOC Calvados Domfrontais, the tiny apples are falling from the trees... along with the leaves.
