Help a newbie...

Jan 29, 2004 2 Replies

I am fairly new to wine, and to this newsgroup. I have been here for a couple of months lurking around, reading and learning from you guys and I have a question. I am currently enamored with italian reds, specificaly, amarones and have recntly tried several. My question is, should I be decanting these wines before drinking? I understand the basic premise of decanting but I am unclear as to what wines should and shouldn't be decanting.

On a sidenote, I am looking for a particular wine that I am having a very hard time finding. I posted previously about where to find this wine but still haven't had any luck so I will mention it here again in the hopes that one of you might have a magical secret resource that may help me find it.

it is a 1995 Pasqua Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Villa Borghetti...

I have tried all the resources I could find and the ones suggested in my previous post, but no luck yet. I even e-mailed the vineyard directly but got no reponse.

Thanks,

Alan Shaw

Pasqua's wholesaler in Maryland is Constantine--although I could not find a listing for Pasqua. their phone is 410-992-1400.

See "wines, no need to breathe" thread a few days ago. Might help. Or at least confuse you at a higher level :-)
