Ink more expensive than champagne

The comparison is probably a lot closer if you refill your own cartridges, as a friend of mine does. Good idea to wear gloves; it's a rather messy process.

about the glasses, Yes, I agree with Mike, for tasting the basic INAO glass gives a better and full taste than an usual champagne flute. But the Top for tasting for the wine expert - wine enthusiast, and also for drinking ( because a nice design) during a party, a dinner, a smart reception, is the Spiegelau Authentis Ref. *champagner*. IMHO.

Ah well, that's a different question altogether. The relative prices of top wines from different areas is a very complex one, it seems to me. I have to say that I find it hard to justify paying more for a wine produced with (relatively) little effort from Merlot grapes at 35-50 Hl/Ha than a very sweet wine made in the same area from Sémillon/sauvignon with great difficulty only in very good years at around 10-15 Hl/Ha . But of course you know my passion for sweet wines.

As for Champagne, to some extent it comes down to personal taste and to the market, of course. I think the top cuvées are overpriced vis-à-vis some of the better wines from small producers, but then there's a world wide demand for the top cuvées which keeps price up. And of course if I think a top champagne cuvée is too expensive, it goes almost without saying that I think Pétrus and - worse - Le Pin is FAR too dear. But I'm not a rich man, and it's probably just jealousy on my part.

And for good reason!! I've tried '85 Dom in my printer and the results were wholly unsatisfactory... ;-)
