FWIW, I bought the pinot at Whole Foods in SoCal for about $8. So it definitely depends on where you buy it. I have not tried it, but I am going to line it up in my tasting with some much more expensive pinot and see how it does. :)

Hi, I'm the original poster and I purchased the wine at Surdyk's in Minneapolis, MN - on sale. Their regular price is around $8. Of course, in Minneapolis, you have to consider state tax + stadium tax + whatever tax = 10%. I thought it was quite pleasant for the price, but at $9.99 maybe not.

I'm always on the hunt for a decent every day kinda wine as we tend to drink a bottle with dinner every day and drinking expensive wines is saved for more of a special occasion. I'm going to give the Goliath a whirl and see where it rates. On a humourous note, I'll never forget the regret I felt after openining an Opus One as my fourth bottle with friends. What was I thinking?
