Kind of OT - Julie & Julia - the movie

I was very anxious to see the movie "Julie & Julia", especially after seeing some old Julia Child cooking shows on PBS. The movie did not disappoint. Meryl Streep does a perfect Julia Child voice, and I thought the movie was very humorous and very enjoyable. Maybe it's because I always enjoyed watching Julia's cooking shows on PBS and her generous use of butter. When she cooked with Jacques Pepin (here's the wine connection) it became obvious that both she and Jacques (whom she called "Jack") were especially fond of a glass or two. Opinions may vary, but I thought it was a good movie!

thanks, going to see this Thursday

I enjoyed the movie, too. I had heard gripings about the switch back and forth, but didn't really bother me (though I found the Julia parts my favorite s over the Julie parts). I was slightly pained watching the Bordeaux/Cab bottle shape as Julie poured into the Boeuf bourguignon (when the editor in the 50s made it she at least had right wine, or at least bottle shape)

I just renewed my membership to PBS (TPT in Minneapolis) and my "gift" will be DVDs of the first 2 years of Julia's cooking shows on PBS. My wife doesn't mind if I say I loved Julia - she loved her too!
