Lavile Haut Brion '48

A dear friend, born in 1948, has a birthday coming up soon. I managed to snag a bottle of Lavile Haut Brion 1948 at a recent auction, with the idea of sharing it with her on the occasion.

Any ideas of what we should expect? I don't have the faintest idea what this wine is going to be like.

Michael Broadbent tasted Laville-Haut-Brion 1948 in June 1990. He said" Sweet, fragrant, 'caramac' (soft fudge-like caramel) nose; dry, lean, touch of peach kernel, highish acidity, good aftertaste." He rated it 2 stars out of 5 stars. He also tasted the Creme de Tete in September 1988 and rated it only one star. I have not seen more recent notes. Hopefully your bottle has held in the 15 years since the Broadbent tasting.
