Sabina '75

Hi all,

It's my girlfriend's birthday coming up soon and I thought it would be great to get her a bottle with the year of her birth on it (she has everything else!). The only thing I can find is a bottle of "1996 La Sabina Montepulciano", and that's from a US merchant. What are the chances of anyone here having a 75 of this or perhaps someone could demystify the Italian and try locate a contact number for the vineyard?

Thanks in advance, Michael

This is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo? I'd be VERY surprised if a 1975 was being kept as more than a curiosity, but I might be wrong. A Vino Nobile de Montepulciano would be more likely to have survived.

BTW, not clear from your post, but assuming HER name is Sabina?

If so, get her the Montepulciano (doubt it's expensive) and a 1975 of something else. Some '75 Bdx are really tannic, but maybe a Pomerol? Also good year for Champagne, assuming good storage. Safest choices would be Sauternes or Port, both moderately good years, wines that last easily. Dale
