marble wine cooler recommendations

Every time my hubby and I are out shopping we check the stores for those marble wine coolers that some restaurants are good enough to use to keep your white wine selection chilled during your meal, but we have never seen them. I'm really surprised that Williams-Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, etc. don't offer them. I have found them on line in prices ranging from $15 to $60, so naturally I'm hoping that there are some people out there that can weigh in with their opinions.

My husband says that we should worry about the inside dimension of the cooler. He says that some white wine bottles have larger diameters than most. I'll humor him on that, but I'm mostly concerned about whether it will match our home's color scheme! We are not trying to chill champagne though.

Anybody have recommendations on particular items, available at retail locations or on line?

Thanks!!!

Hi Annie,

There are earthenware wine coolers too. They are usually terra cotta clay (red orange) coloured. The marble items that I have seen are often Off-white to grey with black streaks in them, Do you have a Kitchen Stuff, Plus store near you, or are they a Canadian chain? We have both those other two chains close to us. I would have expected them to carry the item too. I would expect to pay around the thirty dollar mark for an acceptable one. $15.00 seams a bit low for one you would want on you dining room table.

Most of the time, Cost Plus World Market has the green marble sleeves, and often cheese serving slabs to match. I've seen white, off-white, grey and black in wine related interior shops around London, as well.

I could not tell from your header data, where you are located, but if US, see if there is a Cost Plus near by. If UK, I'll give you a few locations around London.
