Now that the Speculator has bestowed a lofty 100 points on the 2000 Barolo vintage, the prices (never low to begin with) will no doubt rise accordingly. Not to mention the dollar is getting whupped by the Euro.
It occurs to me that, if the barolos themselves were so stunning in
2000, the second and third tier nebbiolos from the area should be pretty darned good, too. At probably 1/3 the price.Has anybody come across these "lesser" 2000s yet? Any suggestions?
