Pssst! ==> Ian Hoare (OT)

Hi, Ian -

Sorry to do this, but I'm not sure you've been getting my e-mail lately. The service seems to have been a bit spotty. :^(

What's the best address to reach you at? I tried your wanadoo and info (at your website) addresses. Is there another?

Thanks, Tom S

Salut/Hi Tom S,

Sorry folks, but as Tom said, email to and from here seems to be distinctly dodgy.

I got a message from you a couple of days ago entitled "mail check" and replied.

well I do have another, but I don't like replying from it as I have to log onto another ISP to do so. it's the same name as my wanadoo but at free dot fr instead. That said, I've not seen much there either of late. Wanadoo has finally inaugurated a much better anti spam service, and it's just possible that your messages may have been caught. But did you not get mine?

Hi Ian -

Yes, I got yours - from your wanadoo account. Is that again usable?

I replied to your message, but didn't notice it was to the wannado account until after I'd sent it. I then recalled that your mailbox is always full etc., so I copied it and sent it to your info at souvigne address too. The subject was "Thanksgiving", I think.

Maybe I should just pick up the phone and call... :^/

It's always been usable, but it gets spammed at the rate of >150 messages a day. However, I have looked out for your emails after this exchange and after your recent email and didn't see any messages from you. I'll have a lok to see whether it was put into a "spam" basket, and if so try to find out why and if I can't put you onto a "green list". But there are limits as to how many email addresses I can look for, and note that you had changed yours.

Didn't arrive.

Try my wanadoo name at f-r-e-e- a t f-r

Always a possibility, and always a pleasure!

Hi Ian I used to have 100 spams a day - after I changed address 1 year ago I no longer receive spam... A blessing! Anders

Actually, I sent that from my work address. My regular address is unchanged, and that's the one I usually use for personal correspondence.

From what I understand, posting to newsgroups is a _great_ way to get on every spammer's list in the world. Their web bots data mine the NGs for legitimate e-mail addresses - which of course is what we all used when we were newbies. So, as long as we keep the same e-mail address, we're screwed. :^(

Of course communicating with people who routinely become infected with viruses and the like because _they_ don't practice "safe hex" is another way to get listed. The first thing many of those malware programs do is e-mail the contents of the address book back to the perpetrators. Grrrr! >8^[
