Re: North Dallas Forty Wines?

Well, after swearing for years that I would never move from Colorado

Near Sherman? I live fairly close to Texarkana/Longview. In Dallas I have found some of the Siegels have fairly good selections.

Good luck with the move, Ed. (I've bought some wines from time to time in Dallas but too long ago to offer useful advice.) I do recall a lively retail wine scene in the region ("Metroplex"), and -- in common with other US metropolitan areas with relatively recent population growth, and with many residents who moved in from elsewhere-- it seemed to have a lot of wine enthusiasts. No doubt there are the usual fluid local tasting groups which good merchants can clue you in to; Web sites; etc.

The venerable local dining newsgroup, in case you aren't already aware, is dfw.eats .
