Recommended merchant for a Reisling

I'm looking for a Reisling from the Alsace-Lorraine region of France, between $50 and $100 (which I can purchase in person in Southern California, or online in the USA). None of the links I accessed via Google seem to be giving me what I want. Does anyone have any recommendations for: a particular Reisling in this price range, or better yet, a merchant that I can purchase this from? I have till my aunt's birthday in September. I haven't seen a "Reisling" category in the wine sections in local supermarkets.

Well, it's spelled Riesling, that could be why you aren't having any luck. Try searching for Bott-Geyl, Marcel Deiss, Albert Mann, Trimbach, Zind Humbrecht. Have a look on Wine Searcher for sellers, this is the free search:

Good list from enoavidh, though I don't really know Bott-Geyl. Do you know receipient's tastes at all, as Trimbach and Zind-Humbrecht are kind of opposite ends of style spectrum.

Where is SoCal are you? Winex in OC has some Schoffit & Zind Humbrecht (plus Trimbach, but priced too high). Woodlands Hills in LA has very good Boxlers.

I'd not do a 2003 unless you knew they liked vintage.

I've started to accumulate links to San Diego vendors and resources at

Check the ones I have listed.

I've been to San Diego Wine Co. - not a huge selection. Vintage Wines is a little bigger. Wine Sellar & Brasserie might be your best bet for what you're looking for.

Although I couldn't get their web site to work, I believe Hi-Time Wines in the LA area has a pretty wide selection of Alsace.

Credit where credit is due, I cherry picked names I recognized from Parker's 6th edition wine book, Alsace chapter. d.

Thanks for all the suggestions. As far as my socal location, I live in the High Desert, but can easily get to either San Diego or Woodland Hills in the valley.

And thanks for the correction about the spelling of "Riesling." The person who told me about this pronounced the first syllable with a long i sound, so I immediately assumed that the spelling would be "ei."

Anyways, you folks have given me quite a bit to go on, so thanks again.

A wine I love is available in Woodland Hills:

it is the Domaine Albert Mann Riesling Schlossberg 2005, which is supposed to be a Grand Cru and at USD 29,99 is a steal. It is 30 euros in Spain.
