Recommended Splurge Wines for Nov/Dec

As a frequently asked question is "what wine should I buy for a splurge", but the answers people offer are more personal (and change over time), this is an attempt at letting folks throw out suggestions. This is obviously offered as a complement to the under-$20 thread, but we figured it doesn't need to be started anew as often, so we're trying every two months. As with the QPR thread, if people don't like we won't keep it up. Here's some thoughts re this thread:

Please post up to 5 wines that you thought were great and worth splurging for (over $20). While in the QPR thread I suggested just posting wines, if you haven't posted tasting notes here you might offer a few words re why you think someone might want to spend $20, $50, $100, or $500 for this wine. Another difference from QPR thread is that I think that if you're suggesting that someone spend $100 on a wine, be prepared for disagreement. Don't bash the person, but if you see an expensive wine being offered that you think is awful, feel free to say so. Please try to be sure that the wines you suggest are reasonably available (wines only at one store, or at a winery is less valuable as bimonthly resource).
