Grape: this ancient indigenous vine has been saved from extinction and attentively cultivated in the whereabouts of Alba (special care was taken precisely because of its somewhat whimsical nature - hence the name arneis, which in the region is also used for capricious children!), blossoming in recent years as the source of Alba’s leading white
Areas: the Langhe hills and the Roero territory within them (i.e. the opposite banks of the Tanaro river from Barolo and Barbaresco)
Color: straw yellow; the Roero appellation shows slight amber hues
Nose: elegant and intense; the Roero DOC and the best Langhe DOCs exhibit an appealing nutty, herbal perfume
Palate: dry, more delicate and fresher from Langhe, with herbal, nutty and pleasingly bitterish nuances from Roero
Aged before release: aging not required
Cellar life: best enjoyed in youth
Food pairings: antipasto, rice salads, lingua in gelatina, fish-based dishes, eggs, unseasoned cheeses
