Rose wines

Anyone recommend any, all I have tried Rose wise so far is the Santa Rita 120 Rose and the Faustino V Rosado.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

This one's good

This may sound a little odd, but if you enjoy the Mount Hurtle try lightly chilling a St. Nicholas de Bourgueil for a similar alcoholic but not too sweet fruity pop effect.

Good luck, Ian

Marques de Caceres does a decent one, and there are any number from the south of France, but you have to wade through oceans of pink sweet plonk to find them. Look for lots of colour and high alcohol and you should be pointed in the right direction.

I agree with Bill, Marques de Caceres is good. Depending on where you are, you may be able to find the Kim Crawford Rose... New release, I tried it recently & was pleasantly suprised. There are LAKES of cheap, bad rose out there (just look at Gallo or Corbett Canyon white zin) so be carefull & good luck.

Lots of decent Rose's out there. I've had some nice summer sippers from the Costieres De Nimes for around $8 or $9. The most 'serious' Rose I tasted came from Collioure, the same place that produces Banyuls. It had a beautiful strawberry color & high Etoh content. I think it was made predominantly from Mourvedre grapes. Had no trouble standing up to hamburgers! Summer's coming! Wine & BBQ, mouth is watering, can't wait! Regards, John.

May I? (not sure of the availability of the California wines for you...) Last summer, I had a couple bottles of Cline Oakley Vin Gris, pretty tasty...and I seem to recall a Minervois rose, but can't put my hands on any notes right now, so I don't know the producer...

Also, Mumm Napa Blanc de Noir is the handy sparkler I keep in the fridge at all times (for emergency use, ya know ;D )

One, thing, there was a Colombo rose out last summer, that was very peculiar tasting, if I see it this year, I'll probably try it again, just in case it turns out to be okay...

OK, because he also carries Gros Nore and Tour du Bon...

If you are interested in Italian Rose, try the Castello Di Ama Rosato. (from Tuscany)
