Sonoma on New Years

Dec 20, 2006 7 Replies

Hi,

My wife and I went out to Sonoma this past May and loved it. We noticed that for next year (07) we can exchange our timeshare for a place in Sonoma around New Years, which leads me to the the question. What is it like there around this time of year? Are all the tasting rooms open?

Also anyone know of any fun things that go on for New Years Eve itself in that area?

Thanks, Frank

Yeah, the tasting rooms are open through most of the holiday season -- it's one of their busiest times of the year, so prepare for dealing with crowds. Some tasting rooms might close early on New Year's Eve, but I doubt that many will be closed even on New Year's Day.

Any idea of if there are ample places to go for New Years itself?

Sorry for the confusion, I specifically meant something to do for New Years Eve. I already have a place I plan on staying but I just wanted to have an idea of what options I'd have for New Years Eve.

I would guess (without specific knowledge) that many of the dining and drinking establishments will do something special for New Years Eve. There may also be some sort of celebration in some of the towns. I'd check with wherever you're staying for what they'd recommend for New YEars Eve.

I will be on a ship, the Celebrity Summit for New Years off Hilo but the wine list the ship has is poor and expensive and they won't let you bring anything aboard. The last time I had sparkling wine on a ship I think it was Cooks or something equally bad.
