Can anyone recommend pubs in the Bridport / West Bay area of Dorset? Ideally within walking distance of Bridport.
We are visiting for a few days over the New Year (2004/5 in case you find this in Google Groups in 2020).
No particular requirements other than good beer (of course) and the option of food might be good. Info for New Years Eve greatfully received (do pubs down there pull the stunt of charging for admission like my local does?).

Obviously you'll be drinking the Palmer's (Tally ho! for best results) Check out the backstreet boozers and have a go (or admire the local skills) at table skittles.
Bridport has a spoon, best pub for beer range is Ropemakers? just off the back of the bus station.
for best location try the Anchor about 3 miles out, down a lane to a small beach (Palmers).
