TN: 04 Domane Wachau GV

Betsy had gone to Asian market yesterday, she marinated some shrimp and scallops and prepared a stirfry with fresh rice noodles and veggies. I grilled the seafood, which was tossed with the stirfry and dressed, and then served with baby bok choy and the 2004 Domane Wachau "Terrassen" Gruner Veltliner Federspiel . I generally regard Domane Wachau as neck and neck with the Produttori del Barbaresco as best co-op in the wine world. This is certainly respectable - a clean, light, and easy GV, just a hint of pepper. I didn't really get excited though (the fact that this was only a day after finishing the '04 Nigl Privat probably didn't help!). I'd probably just as soon have the incredibly cheap Hofer, but this is still a good if not thrilling value at $9. B/B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
