[TN} '07 Ch. Grand Traverse Dry Riesling

Nov 05, 2009 2 Replies

With a light dinner tonight of bread, cheese and salad, I opened:

2007 Chateau Grand Traverse Dry Riesling (12.5% ABV) nose: green apples, lemon, minerals palate: lightweight, firm acidity, bone dry

A recent purchase on our last trip to Michigan, this year's edition proved to be a winner. Very dry and crisp, it was quite refreshing and reminded Jean of a Grüner Veltliner. Very good.

Mark Lipton:

Gruner Veltliner is semillon on steroids. Surprised and delighted to see it applied to Michigan riesling. I really need to visit there someday soon.

At 13% (and more) yes.

At 12.5% (and less) - which quite obviously is what Mark was talking about - definitely not.
