TN: 1978 LLC

Betsy made roast chicken, cumin carrot puree, squash, and caprese. Wine for our Zoom call was the 1978 Ch. Leoville Les Cases. Nice bottle with good fill, I decanted for sediment but used a smaller decanter. This was quite elegant, not a word that usually springs to my mind for LLC. Sweet black plum fruit, pencil shavings, a little herb/tobacco greeness, with moderate acids just giving it a bit of tang. With time the vegetal notes got more pronounced, though I still enjoyed. This bottle drinking very well if quite mature, I have another (different source) that I will open soon and hope to like as much. B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
