TN: almost perfect night by river, with 3 Roses, 1 Cassis blanc, 1 Riesling

Absolutely perfect weather for Wednesday’s park concert- at 6:30 it was 79 degrees, low humdity, clear skies, light breeze. I carried crab sal ad, tongue terrine, breasola, spalla, and potato salad. Others brought Bocc oncini, bruschetta, cheeses, green salads, radishes and butter, and more

2017 Gros Nore Bandol rose Citrus peel, strawberry, good finish, but I think I like the Tour Bon bette r for a bit less $ B/B+

2017 “and why am I Mr. Pink” rose LIghter style, hint of sweetness, cherry. B-/C+

2017 Tire La Bobinette Rose (Vin de France) Soft, strawberries in cream,.\orange peel, B/B-

2013 Clos Ste. Magdeleine “Bel-Arme” Cassis blanc Oily texture, good acids for cassis, white apple and yellow plum/apricot. G ood, but no bargain at $30+. B

2015 Schaefer Frohlich Bockenauer Felseneck Spatlese Plenty of sweetness, but really excellent acids to brace the sugar. Rainer cherry, Granny Smith., and lime zest, with a very floral nose. Long and ful l. A-/B+

Great night except absence of Betsy

With grilled swordfish, squash, and caprese, 2015 Sainte Barbe (Chaland) "l a Perriere" Vire-Clesse. I had really enjoyed a bottle of this quite recent ly, but this seemed like a slightly tired Chard with too much oak. Puzzling ., B-/C+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a p arty where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivi ty, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
