TN: 3 roses, 2 whites, 1 red on July 4th

Betsy had a rehearsal Tuesday, so we didn’t host our usual 4th part y. But we did go to our usual fireworks watching party, at a lovely Victori an with a big wide porch overlooking the Hudson. There were cheese burgers, sausages, potato salad, beet salad, caprese, chicken kebabs, fruit salad, etc, as well as some wine

2016 Commanderie de la Bargemone (Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence) Rose Berries and watermelon, good acids, good length. B/B+ 2016 L’Enclos Rose (Gascogne) Tart flavors, yet with seemingly low acids and some RS. Not my thang. C+ 2016 Coeur Esterelle (Cotes de Provence) Rose Pale, light, strawberry fruit, a little short. B-/C+ 2016 Edmunds St John “Heart of Gold” Peaches and citrus, very floral, fun and lively. B++ 2015 Simi Chardonnay (Sonoma) Oak/vanilla over very ripe pear fruit (canned pear), not very appealing. C+ /B- 2015 Tendu (Matthiasson) A liter crowncapped bottle, Italian grapes I believe. Raspberries and peach blossom, light bodied, good acids, I served a little chilled and it was ni ce with burgers on a summer night. B/B+ Crowd in the park to watch the show (shot from a barge in river), nice to h ave a comfortable porch (and to beat some of the traffic at exit time). Hap py Independence Day Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a p arty where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivi ty, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
