[snip!]

This wine will cost something approaching $40 at most wine shops. If you can get it for $20 then it is a steal.

was only choice.

I presume this is White Burgandy. I purchased 3 or 4 cases of 89 Ramonet Chassange-Montrachet Red Burgandy a few years ago. It drinks very well, but is just about gone.

I presume Ramonet is one of the larger producers of Red CM, as I see it frequently on Paris wine lists.

I don't think they are a large producer. About 50% of wine in C-M is rouge, and I don't think Ramonet makes more than a few thousand cases. Perhaps it is on the wine lists because the Ramonet name helps it sell well. I just bought some 2001 Ramonet C-M rouge, but I have not tasted it yet. I bought it primarily because I like the Ramonet blanc so much. Talking to other who have had the rouge, it is good for the price but it is not the steal that one might suspect.
