Wednesday early dinner before going to city, salmon, carrots, broccoli, but no wine

Thursday H-Mart Korean marinated chicken thigh, baby Shangha, king trumpet mushrooms, seaweed salad, rice

2020 Coudert/Clos de la Roilette Fleurie Red fruits(cherry and strawberry), floral, tangy acids, smooth tannins. Will age but pretty fine now.B+

Friday we went to visitation for the wife of a dear friend in Croton, a lovely person taken too soon.We chatted with some other wine geeks. On way home we stopped and ate outside a Portuguese restaurant in Ossining. I had Bacalhau balls, green salad, and grilled red snapper, Betsy had clams in garlic and grilled Branzino. No charge for BYO (though plastic glasses outside), I had brought the 2018 Zarate Balado Albarino. So good even in a plastic cup. Bright zesty acids, citrus and chalk, lovely saline finish, A- As a bonus there was an electric guitarist between 2 restaurants doing improvisations on raga (with a tabla machine), Betsy actually joined him singing raga for a bit.

Saturday night grilled (rare) tuna, squash, leftover bok choy. Wine was the 2013 Lapierre (s) Morgon. Juicy, straightforward, black cherry with floral notes, not super complex but fun and easy. B

Sunday we had friends over on a lovely night on patio Started with charcuterie, gravlax, and the NV Gosset Grande Reserve Rose. Delicate red fruit, orange zest, baking bread,.great finish. A-/B+

A short break for oysters

2019 Goodfellow Temperance Hill Chardonnay Infanticide. .A little reductive note that blows off, citrus and apple, good acids, balanced B+

Main was grilled pork chops in a cilantro/jalepeno marinade with pepper/omion relish, cilantro rice, asparagus, Swiss chard, and green/herb salad

1975 Bouscaut (Graves) This was cheap, and I thought I could risk with the peppers (I did sub 50% bell for some of the jalapeno). And Friday we had a discussion about 1975s, I opined you can only count on Pomerol, Sasha advocated for Graves. He was right. I was surprised how well it showed for a minor estate. No remaining hard ‘75 tannins, black plum and berry, a little cocoa, leather and tobacco left. Not super long, but for a $29 47 year old, great showing. B/B+

Monday sauteed scallops, soba, asparagus, cucumber/avocado salad. The 2016 Trimbach 390eme Riesling was tasty if round, fleshy yellow plum and peach, some ginger and citrus blossom. Not equivalent of the 375eme, but also not marketed as a CFE. Interesting if not thrilling. B/B+ Last night no wine with gochugaru shrimp & seaweed grits

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
