TNR: '99 BV Tapestry

Has anyone tasted this recently ? A local wine sale in Colorado USA has several cases at what seems like a good price (under $30). I may just buy one and pop to check it out before buying more - but would like opinions if anyone has tried it recently. (Tapestry is their bordeaux style blend- for those not familiar) thanks, bob

Wasn't the 99 one of the wines that had TCA contamination?

from this discussion it seems that '98 was the year of TCA at BV, but don't know for sure.

My understanding is the affected years seem to be '97-'99, in most of the "serious" reds - from Napa CS to Rutherford, up through Tapestry to GdL and the block wines.

I did purchase one bottle and to try last night, this was before I read Bill's TCA comment.

I thought the wine was very good. Complex, soft and approachable, peppery, cassis / dark fruit. I am no expert but could not detect a flaw in the wine, what am I looking for to detect TCA? I have had a corked bottle on occasion but still not sure I know the taste / smell. bob

The percentage of TCA found in the BVs ranged from about 1.5 ppt to 5 ppt (people debate the perception threshold, for most people between 2.5 & 3.5 probably). I've had bottles where TCA wasn't perceptible. But if buying a '97-'99 BV today I'd be sure to ask policy on flawed returns, Dale

thank you, I appreciate the info. I am less inclined to get more at this time, but I will check on the flawed returns policy ... Bob
