Brokenwood Cricket Pitch White 2004 Came across this in a Binny's in Chicago, priced at around 5 bucks in a clear-out sale (think it's usually around twice that price). A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, pale yellow in colour with medium body, nose predominantly of citrus fruit with softer nutty and herbaceous flavours. Dry palate with a little fruit & toasty/nutty flavours that seemed to get a little more pronounced with time in the glass, with a smooth finish that didn't last too long.
Ken Forrester Stellenbosch Petit Chenin 2005 Picked this up for about 7 or 8 bucks (standard price). Pale yellow/ gold in the glass, medium bodied with a very pleasant nose of melon, pears and lime zest. Very similar flavours showing in the mouth with a little bit of minerality and lovely, crisp acidity. Finish slightly warm and long - surprised though to see that this is 14.5% alcohol (and wondering now as to why it's called Petit, in that case) - but the alcohol barely showed, and it's a lovely wine to go with food (paired it with some Lebanese - falafels, zaatar and such - food that wasn't too heavy, but fairly well spiced/aromatic, and it went very well).
