Where does Sunset Canyon wine come from?

Jun 05, 2009 3 Replies

You'd think Sunset Canyon Merlot, Chardonnay and Zinfandel red and rosé would come from Sunset Canyon in California, but I've googled and can't find vinters of that name...

Anyway, the wine is really good - AND really healthy if you have problems with red blood cells etc.!

So - does anybody know where this wine comes from?

I'm surprised the bottle doesn't say where the bottling was done. Most bottles of wine do.

I see that the appelation is just "California", so it could be a blend of grapes bought from other wineries all over California or even a blend of a number of bulk wines, i.e., the wine could have ten vintners.

It's bottled somewhere in Germany, but that doesn't mean anything - the wine is obviously transported in ship containers to Europe, and bottled there, as it's not expensive (5-7 dollars a bottle). Anyway, thanks a lot, guy, this mystery-origin-wine is good, anyway.

I don't know specifically of this wine, but my father drinks boxed wine. There was a brand he liked, and when I read the label it said that the wine was from some former Yugoslavian republic. The store owner said the last batch said it was from California-- so pretty much the wine may change, it's only the brand name that might remain constant.

In other words, you might like it this week...
