Betonite Slurry Reuse?

I have 2 cups of betonite slurry that I have made by blending 1 pint of boiling water with 3 tablespoons of betonite powder in a blender for 3 mintues (as per the directions that arrived with the betonite). The slurry is now hydrating.

But, I only have 5 gallons of wine I need to fine, and at 2 Tbsps per gallon, that's only 10 Tbsps out of 2 cups of slurry produced. I was reluctant to "half" the amounts, as I wasn't sure 1 cup of water would cover the blades of the blender.

My question is, can I save and resuse the betonite after it has been hydrated? And if I can, is there any sort of preparation I should give the betonite slurry when I go to use it again?

Thank you for your help! Jon Gilliam

2 tablespoons of dry bentonite, mixed together with 1 cup of hot water, is what you want for a 5 gallon batch. I put the bentonite and hot water in a jar with a lid, shake the heck out of it, then pour it into the wine and stirr thoroughly.

That slurry will keep indefinitely as long as you don't let anything grow in it. Put it away hot to prevent mold from growing. Might be a good idea to make a bigger batch because it's such a PIA to do every time you need it.
