Blackberry wine

I just made a blackberry wine. I will be able to get more berries but, not enough to make a 6 gallon batch. My question, what other fresh fruit would compliant the blackberry? I was thinking of adding some frozen strawberries in equal amounts (15# each). Or, should I have more of one than the other? Tom

I don't think strawberries would compliment blackberries very well but it's your wine. I would suggest raspberries or even use some grape concentrate to fill it out. Maybe Merloe or Cab. Sauv. Even Syrah might be good.

Ok... how bouth this one... I freeze all my crop of berries. ... straw, black, Elder, cascade, as well as figs and plums. Sometimes apple juice to..

I make batches of all during the winter. .... as long as the basement is warm enough... year end in the early spring I clean out the deepfreeze... it is called bumbleberry wine. and is usually quite good!!! Still mostly blackberry with some strawberries and raspberries.. one bag of elderberries.. maybe some grapes if I have them..

Whatever,.,,,It don't cost a lot for a packet of yeast... and 5 Lbs of sugar. Try it ya might like it...

However... at this time of the year I am working on picking .and filling the deepfreeze... and only one batch of corn in the masher... for other reasons... (hint... I just acquired an old automotive A/C radiator....:)

cheers Marv.

Find a recipe for each fruit or juice you are using. Use them as a guidline. I would make the back berry based on 5-6 lbs in a gallon. So if i had 12 lbs of berries I would follow the recipe for making 2 gallons of wine. Then I would use the other ingredient an dmake enough for 3 gallons. Then I would put them together and ferment them.
