Fresh Grapes - Eastern US?

I have seen some posting recently about acquiring fresh grapes. Does anyone know of any areas in the Northeast where I can get fresh grapes? The shipping from the places I have seen so far (CA, WA, Oregon) seems to be an issue and a great cost. I am only looking for small batches at this point.

Josh Fresh grapes from the central valley of California are available in Pittsburgh (and probably any larger city) at around $20 / lug (44 pounds). That will make around 3 gallons of wine. Beaver and Greensburg PA are smaller cities nearby that also sell them. Check with your produce people as to where the produce comes in and ask them.

Fresh grapes grown in PA are also available at Presque Isle Wine Cellars in Erie PA.

Ohio has quite a few outlets too; I know they are available in Baltimore and Philadelphia too. Regards, Joe

NG,

I am interested in CA or NY grapes, but am located in NC, far from either. Joe Sallustio made a great observation that grapes are often shipped to large cities. The nearest large city to me is Atlanta. Does anyone know of shipments of vitis vinifera grapes from CA or NY to Atlanta? (And are they as cheap as $20 / lug (44 lbs.)?)

TIA,

Gary
