Fruit press

May 20, 2011 1 Replies

Made wine just a couple times and thinking of getting a press, does it have to be a wood press or will cast iron work. Everything I have read tells me to never let wine touch metal, or not sure which way to go

Thanks for the help

Get a wine press from a reputable manufacturer and it will be fine. Most home presses have wooden baskets with enamel coated metal parts. Stainless steel is widely used in the wine industry. Avoid uncoated iron.
