going for the 50

I teach a lot of people around here to make wine; I give a lot away so they know what they can make with minimal effort. The hardest decision they usually have to make is how much to make the first time.

I feel making 6 to 24 gallons is about the same amount of effort and tell them to get as much as they can afford because they will not mess it up. I usually tell them to start with fresh juice because it's balanced and for the most part my wines are made from juice. If they like mine I can walk them through it, I just wrote down the steps one day. I make more and more from grapes as my schedule permits.

It's a lot better to have 100 bottles at the end of a year than 25. You will have 250, that's worth the effort. As Ray mentioned in another thread you aren't a rookie, you are a winemaker now.
