As the organizer of a wine competition I am in need of assistance. Is it permissable/legal for a "homie" to make a fortified wine/port and enter it into a competition? Joanne

Don't know about legalities Joanne, but I judge at a couple of large home wine competitions each year, and both competitions have "port" wine categories. Regards, lum
I realize this is VERY late, but yes its perfectly legal to make fortified wine. What would be illegal is the distilling of spirits. You are free to include any tax paid/commercially available liquor to your wine as will. If not, then millions of bars owners and employees would be going out of business and going to jail for mixing drinks.
