Ph Meter

I just bought one that was recommended in an earlier post here. It seems to be doing ok. Buy a few packs of each of the calibrating solutions. They are individually foil packed and should keep for a while. Search pH Meter on this newsgroup and you will find more info than you could want to know by the experts. Here is the link..

Oh.. and they shipped quick and were good to deal with...

"Foil packed"? I get my calibration solutions in plastic 500 ml bottles (7.0 and 4.01).

I'm certainly not familiar with all of the brands available. But there are some features you might want to ensure you get;

• Accuracy to .01 (versus .1)
• Replaceable electrodes
• Water proof

I have used both Oakton and Hannah - and prefer the Hannah. The model I currently use also reads temp, and can also be used to determine TDS (which is only important if you use your meter for water quality monitoring, as I do). I found the Oakton electrodes to wear out sooner, and they chewed through batteries a little quicker. The only downside to the Hannah that I've experienced so far is that it needs calibrating at least twice to get it really accurate and 'stable' (holding terminal value).

S - Check out Omega pH meters. I have one of their inexpensive models that has worked well for years...I've been through 3 electrodes. Look at models PHH222 and PHH37
