Transfering wine

I can't answer your question about the speed without filters, but I will say that, in my experience, WITH the filter, it does NOT take 15 minutes to transfer 5 US gallons; rather about 8-10 minutes.

Unless you are transferring into a vessel that is higher, why not just use a siphon? I have a length of 1/2" tubing and one of these:

It starts the siphon easily and will last forever.

I want to point out that for wine racking this siphon is not good and I have one. I mean from a high level carboy to a lower one. To activate the siphon by pushing it up and down it will stir the particules that sit in the bottom of the carboy.

I've moved hundreds of gallons using it and I've never had this problem. Just don't stick it all the way to the bottom at the start. You can prime it by moving it up and down in the top 5" of the liquid, and move the tip down as the racking progresses.

This is exactly what I have done. I did not put the siphon in the bottom but as you said about 5-6 inches snd I could see the particles from the bottom mixing with my wine.. You have moved hundreds of gallons but I only did it once and I will never do it again. Simple solution instead of wasting money would be to fill in water your racking cane and tube. Sorry but you've moved hundreds of gallons using.it? I did once and I will not do it again.

If you just want to pump the wine you may want to tinker with the mini jet to disable the flow to the filter membranes and directly into a hose to the receiving vessel.
