Boulevard Irish Ale

I bought this one not expecting much but hey, it's pretty good stuff.(Nice malt presence) Their dry stout and porter are also new in town. I'll have to give them a shot later.

Best regards, Bill

That is pretty good, isn't it? The porter's pretty good drinking, too. Boulevard is growing like crazy, and good on them.

They're certainly doing well here...their Wheat is on tap at a number of the locals.

I think it's a fall seasonal, but if the Boulevard Bobs 47 Lager shows up, get as much as you can. That's a great, great beer.

The Boul. Irish Ale is outstanding stuff. Nothing exciting but a damned fine bottle-conditioned amber colored ale, with near perfect balance. Nice fresh malt flavors, fresh hop flavors. The Bully! Porter is a top porter in my book. The Dry Stout is one I can do without, it comes across a little too astringent. Also look out for their Pale Ale - nothing exciting but like the Irish Ale very well constructed and drinkable. I like it better than SNPA. In the fall watch for Bob's 47, lying somewhere in the vicinity of being a vienna lager, its a really nice beer. The summer Zon, a wit, is nice. Also the winter seasonal Nut Cracker is really really good too.

Yea, their wheat is on tap all over KS, but its probably the worst of the beers.

I live in Kansas, so I might be a little biased, but Boulevard has a pretty solid line up. They have four regulars and four seasonals. They are really good about getting their beers out in the area. Seeing a Pale Ale tap can really save the day at a restaurant where you otherwise might be faced with the typical Budmilloors.

They seem to be growing very steadily and spreading throughout the Midwest. They are expanding their capacity with a new addition to their Kansas City brewery. They do tours at their Brewery, and you can often taste some interesting experiments in the tasting room. I got to sample some barrel aged Bully Porter and a dry hopped Nutcracker. I think tours are regularly scheduled on Saturday, but you have to make reservations.

The wheat is a typical American wheat, not that exciting. The Bob's 47 doesn't do a whole lot for me, but you can't go wrong with the rest of their lineup.

Of course, Boulevard makes great beers. They've got a Belgian brewer, after all. ;^}, Joris

You and Lew were right about the Bully Porter. Really good stuff! I remember seeing the 47 Lager but I didn't bite. :^(

Today, I had myself a Spaten Optimator and an Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel. Good beer month for me. lol

Guess I'll have to wait for autumn...not that I want to see spring and summer fly by. ;^)

That, my friend, might be stretching it a bit. Nor everybody has learned his trade at Rodenbach. All the same, where NB have their Peter Bouckaert, Boulevard have their Steven Pauwels, who is as Flemish as they come... Just as Unibroue had their Gino Vantieghem, who started Maudite, Raftman, Fin du Monde and the rest... Important Belgian export product, you know - beer, brewers, breweries... Cheers, Joris
