Yeah, what he said. I also like Dos Equis Special Lager. Avoid Corona and Sol like the plague.

I'll echo what others said, with the exception of pointing out that it's Negra Modelo, not the other way around.
Bohemia is a nice, malty, light lager similar to many German beers.
Negra Modelo is a darker, maltier beer than Bohemia (which comes from the same brewery, IIRC). It's well-balanced, and not at all heavy. My favorite Mexican beer.

My favorite Mexican beer, by far, is the dark lager Negra Modelo.

Casta is pretty good. I saw it in LA when I was there last. It's VERY different from typical Mexi-lager swill, more like a US micro really. While it shines like a beacon compared to other Mexican beers it's pretty average when compared with the better American Micros.

Wow, their brewers must be ancient geezers by now!
Seriously, brewing lager beer got to Mexico through the same mechanism it got to the US: immigration. Where do you think Anheiser-Busch, Miller, Leinenkugel, etc., came from? I'll leave it to others to ask the obvious next set of questions...

Well, my Appalachian cousins say that's all fine and well for your mole dishes, but they want to know what beer goes best with groundhog?

LOL! And we all know how upstanding and free of corruption the Mexican government is right? Remember a few years back when there was an agave shortage and American demand for Tequila was higher than ever the government did nothing to stop the midnight raids on immature agave fields and upping the percentage of adjuncts...
