Opening Twist-Off Cap Whithout Using a Church Key

Last night I learned that one can open a twist-off cap just by pushing the flat of the cap firmly against the forearm and then twisting. I tried it and it works great. It also impresses one's friends.

I can open a twist off cap with my bare hands. Isn't this the purpose of twist offs?

Perhaps you misread what I said. I wasn't talking about opening the bottle with one's hands, I was talking about opening the bottle by placing the smooth surface of the cap against the underside of one's forearm between the wrist and the elbow and then pushing the bottle into the arm while twisting. This technique relies solely on friction.

I'm trying really, really hard to give a shit.

Damn. Failed again. Perhaps the fact that I don't drink the crappy beers sold in twist-offs has something to do with it.

HTH. HAND.

It truly is a "whatever" topic.

Hey, I *like* Old Crustacean. Sierra Nevada beers, too.

Speaking of old crustaceans, how ya' been? We miss you.

I like Old Crustacean after about five years. I usually drink either or these on tap somewhere, since I've not found SNIPA or SNHA in bottles of late.

Life ain't half bad, and with World Beer Cup and the Craft Brewers Conference and me with a press pass and ... well, let's just say I'm taking the next week off from the day job. There will be drinkin', yassuh. Then off to the Bay Area, and that will include a drive up 101 to Santa Rosa, with a stop or three along the way, cruisin' along with Herself in an SLK 350.

I'm hoping it's not a bad way to celebrate one's 50th, speaking of old crustaceans...

Santa Rosa, eh? I've been doing quite a bit of business with the brewery located there. :^) Wonderful beers!

You might stop at Lagunitas Brewing in Petaluma. I've never been a major fan, but this Maximus is kinda tasty. A bit heavy on the bittering hops, but a nicely balanced double IPA, otherwise.

I've considered that, but Moylan's in Novato seems more appealing, not to mention Bear Republic up in Healdsburg. And that's assuming I don't just park at Russian River and go through any and every brett-infected beer in the range.

LOL! How many Brett beers do they actually make? I've only had Redemption and that one was pretty tasty fresh...

The number varies, and there are other beers besides the brettbrews too. Maybe I'll see Vinnie this week at the CBC and ask him before going.

Besides RR, there's also Third Street in Santa Rosa. I'm sure I won't lack for beer. I'm pretty much going to be on a continuous beer binge for the next couple of weeks. I'm not at all miserable at this prospect.
