Hello everyone !
I've been lurking for quite some time here and it thrills me to meet more people with good taste buds (no pun intended) for good beers ! Since im living in Québec and that we have,in my opinion, one of the best brewerie in Canada I'd like to share my appreciation of some of the fine beers at Unibroue:
Don de Dieu: White beer on lees, triple fermentation, 9% alcohol/vol Strong malt taste with very little hop aftertaste. Deffinitly one of my favourite, it is a bit on the treacherous side since it's high alcohol content and sweet taste, so to drink with moderation. Beware, though, it is better served fresh between 3 and 7 C (altough personnal preference comes in, but I don't think it's very good when hotter than that). To drink with something spicy and/or pastaes (Italian and mexican food comes to mind).
What is also nice with Unibroue is their hommage to the Québec history with (almost) each brand of beer. Here goes the one for the Don de Dieu:
"The Don de Dieu in Tadoussac, June 3, 1608, under the command of Samuel de Champlain de Brouage, commissioned by the King of France to pursue, by the way of the great Canadian waterway, the exploration of this vast and inhospitable land called America"
For those of you who do not understand french, Don de Dieu means "Gift from God"
