Wine-O

It depends if you're making 5 gallons or 50 gallons at a time. If you're making 50 at a time, well, admitting you have a problem is the first step.... :-)

I've never felt like I was becoming a wino, but I have noticed that the first wines I made I drank too early, because I was excited about what I've done. I still have one bottle of the first wine I made, but I wish I had 10, as it aged wonderfully. But I drank most of it before it had a chance to get really good. If you read a lot of posts here, that's a very typical thing for newbies to do.

Good luck. Learn patience. Buy other bottles to pass the time.

If you enjoyed it when you drank it, you did not drink it too early. You just drank it young! The purpose of wine is to be enjoyed, not to be perfect.

Always keep in mind that a wine can be aged too long. It is far more sad to me to realize that the wine I have hoarded is on the decline than that the wine I enjoyed last year is even more enjoyable this year and I am running out. How can I be sad about enjoyment! I just need to make more.

As for being a wine-o and making wine, I plan on making several batches at once but I don't drink alcohol: I hate the taste of anything and everything with alcohol. I'm making the wine to get women drunk so that I may take advantage of them.

Make some Strawberry wine. It works like liquid panty hose remover on women :)

That's true, Ray, but I'd have enjoyed it more if I had waited. Oh, well.

And one of the first wines I ever liked, I bought 6 bottles of. Saved them for a realy nice meal. Apparently I didn't eat nice meals often enough, and had to pour out four of them. :-(

Live and learn. Isn't that why we're all doing this?
